Telecom regulator says calls from these number series cannot be blocked or filtered

TRAI stated third-party apps cannot tag or block specific phone number series. Calls from 1600 numbers are for service and transaction communications. The 140 series is designated for registered telemarketer promotional calls. Customers can block promotional calls through the Do Not Disturb registry. This clarification prevents misleading users who have allowed certain calls.
