Microsoft layoffs: Company cuts 4,800 jobs; to reduce 2.1% global workforce

Microsoft has laid off 4,800 employees, about 2.1% of its global workforce, as its new fiscal year begins, with Xbox and commercial sales taking the biggest hits.
